After an epic summer of love and fun, ups, downs, growth and giddy and PRESENCE with my family – I’m back in the saddle of work and so blessed to have had 3 new clients this week…. BUT… I had the same conversation with all of them about TARGETED MARKETING. You cannot and should not be all things to all people. You are wasting your marketing money and any attention you are getting for your product if you are not specific, unique and descriptive in your marketing.  As many people should NOT want your brand in their life as should want it. Yes. It’s true. The right message and marketing takes you from zero to hero when you are brave and bold and specific with what you do.

I teach a class with some incredibly bright kiddos through the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.  (Just look at that picture at how well they are listening to me – yes I did bribe them with Girl Scout cookies #fulldisclosure)

Figuring out what YOU offer better, faster, stronger than anyone else.  Seeking to pinpoint the consumer that immediately gets the problem you solve and wants to find your “buy now” button as quickly as possible.

TOO MANY OF YOU ARE TRYING TO DO TO MUCH AND TRYING TO SELL TO TOO MANY PEOPLE!!! STOP THE MADNESS.

Who Needs My Product or Service THE MOST?  Who Has The Problem my Business Solves RIGHT NOW? Specifically Who?! (e.g. Men, Women, Athletes, Singers, Seniors, Healthcare Providers, Students, Age? Income?)

What to think about in deciding what messages to use to attract your niche:

  • Where do they live?
  • What do they do for fun/work? Hobbies? Interests?
  • Do they have the income for your price point? How will you help this?
  • How do they learn about new products?
  • How do they like to shop?
  • How will you reach them with your message?
  • How can you make it easy for them to buy from you?
  • Will you need money to reach your niche with the offer of my product/business.

After you finish this exercise, revisit your website and ask your self if you will excite your target consumer. Will they feel like you really get them and their problem and that you really can solve it?  If you are vague and vanilla – you can expect them to bounce off your feed or your site and not want to get to know you better and certainly not want to buy from you. You should be able to make up a sentence like this for your business!
